ITALIAN CROSS BINDINGS
Bedside Books
Three Italian cross bindings with felt covers & embroidery silks, soft but sturdy to jot down dreams late at night
I believe this binding style was developed after the floods in Florence in the 1960s as a temporary binding to keep waterlogged pages together so they could dry before being rebound. There is no glue used, the interlocking cover is held together soley by friction.
